ABS is a not-for-profit corporation that has no capital stock and pays no dividends.All funds generated fees for classification services are used solely for the performance of such services.A surplus of receipts in any 4>General Summary As a class Surveyor, the primary function is to carry out inspection of subsea equipment such as pipeline, umbilical, PLEM & PLET, Christmas tree etc during equipment installation, testing, commissioning according to relevant Rule and Regulations. The surveyor may need to work onboard offshore vessel/unit for a long period (such as one or two months per trip) depending on assignment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (PDR) 1.Carry out inspection of subsea equipment such as pipeline, umbilical, PLET & PLEM, Christmas trees and risers etc during equipment installation/testing/commissioning according to relevant Rule and Regulations. 2.Inform and explain the offshore operator about non-conformance found during inspection, may propose remedy plan and discuss technical details with the operator. 3. Jacket steel inspection. 4. Write progress report periodically. 5. Report to the supervisor on condition found during inspection. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (KSAR) 1.A degree or recognized equivalent in offshore engineering, mechanical engineering discipline is preferred; should have previous offshore industry experience, appropriate certification, and/or licenses in area of specialization. As a minimum, candidates for this position should possess the following: · A degree or equivalent an institution recognized within a relevant field of engineering or physical science (i.e., a degree or equivalent -- a minimum two year program, depending on local education system); or · Relevant qualifications a suitable marine or nautical institution and relevant seagoing experience as a certified ship officer; and · Proficiency in the English language commensurate with their future work. · Having worked at least 3 years in an offshore oil company or classification society or offshore equipment manufacturer, involving subsea equipment fabrication/installation/testing/commissioning or offshore structure fabrication. 2. The knowledge and ability to communicate, orally and in writing, complex and unique survey issues to personnel in related technical fields. 3. Physically suitable for working on offshore vessel/units. 4. Should have working experience related to offshore oil field construction or offshore equipment fabrication/installation/inspection/design, or classification of offshore production field/equipment, or offshore project management or other offshore related project.
